How not to go about selling a car, virtually no info & no pictures

However suspension/cylinder needs attention, only wants £250

So it's a four wheel drive, TZD Turbo in white with 145k miles first registered in October 1994. Mmmm.

Just had a call from the owner and I asked about the 4 wheel drive and from her answer it's probably just the standard 2 wheel drive and wrongly listed on eBay. Apart from the hydraulics problem mentioned it's probably quite a straight example so I'm going to have a look at it tomorrow afternoon anyway - I'll report back.

It's a white hatchback with spoiler. Service history for at least the last 12 years or so, recent clutch and relatively recent battery - battery seemed a bit on the low side because C locking wasn't working (though sounded as though it was trying) - car hadn't been run for a couple of weeks.

Interior is 1994 - so it's nice - seemed tidy except for a few scuffs on the plastic on the rear of the front seats - drivers seat felt comfortable - radio is fitted.

Didn't notice any dings, corner of one bumber and one corner of the spoiler a bit scuffed, front numberplate cracked one end but it's still in place .

Very small amount of LHM around the OS/F sphere - same around the top of the accumulator. Lots of oily stuff around the inside of the NS/F wheel so I would guess the flexible return is perished and that's possibly the only leak - owner has been topping up with LHM to drive it.

Tailgate lock does not operate - access to the boot through the back seats - probably an easy fit after crawling through to get the tailgate panel off from the inside. Spare wheel is in the boot so looking underneath the back end was a clear view - didn't even see any surface rust - looked very tidy.

Looks good for £250 and with a bit of work will probably be a good drive for someone for many years to come.

I went up to see it on the offchance that it really was a 4WD - it's not - I have an obstinate streak - when we get 14" of snow I like to have a drive and take some photos and a 4WD estate (this one is the hatch) would be just that little bit better than the excellent TGD I'm driving now.

I did take some pics so the seller could re-list it decently (but she sold to someone off eBay). I might get to do some webby stuff next week (hosting and registration changes) so it won't be 'till then at the earliest. In the meantime I have a front bumber (with FOGLIGHTS ! !) to fit to the TGD today + spare wheel to refurbish and put a tyre on, and the front wall to build (front bumper and wall not related

) and a software course. I should be free by Wednesday but I'm not saying which one
