Owner living overseas, the car has been in storage for 4 years. Owned in the family since June 1991 and serviced regularly by Citroen specialist, the cam-belt was renewed at 100,000km and four new tires fitted just prior to being taken off the road. Full service history available. Car is in very good condition and the owner, who is remaining overseas, will ensure current Warrant of Fitness and registration for 6 months from date of purchase. Citroen specialist will oversee reinstatement on the road. [Please note: Photographs are indicative of the make and model - not the actual vehicle, which is in secure storage.]
Then when you look at one of the questions asked
Thanks for your interest. We have not explored fully the costs of reinstatement as this is not a simple process because the vehicle is stored in a remote location. Will come back to you when I can give you a definite view on an "as is, where is sale. No this is not a fuel-injected engine. 9:33 pm, Thu 29 Apr
But thanks to the leaky privacy afforded by the internet

http://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=pr367
Licence type: X (Exemption)
Licence expiry: 2010, July 11th (expires in 2 months)
Let me explain if a cars Licence is out of date by 12 months the registration Plates are cancelled and the vehicle has to be re vinned at a cost. Yet as this is on Exemption (like SORN) no issues.

Ok could be genuine but no real photos and that line of remote location???

Surely payment on collection would eliminate any rats? Sounds like a generous offer.

Interesting how the first bid was a newbie account from a location within commuting distance of the seller. But we shall see in a few hours time what happens next...

Yes I'm always weary of newly opened accounts and if it seams too good to be true then it usually is too good to be true but being forever the optimist if this wasn't genuine why give the vehicles reg. no. and why admit these are not photos of the actual vehicle?

Didn't sell , you've got me all intriqued now. Is it genuine if not how was the scam suppose to work as surely thet didn't expect someone to pay up front?

I dont think it was a scam as such which TM are pretty hot on shutting down. More of someone trying to make out it is better than it is and selling unseen but also trying to make a false bid to bump the price up. Clearly the seller has not used much thought into the process of selling and what would look a bit suspect.

Not that I can talk about buying unseen I paid $300 for a 19TRS none runner expecting it to not worth much but a few spare parts. Turned into a real bargain and that was two years ago.

very expensive for a 'low end' model that hasn't been on the road for years I reckon.
would be worth $500 absolute tops.

AFAIK there's really no citroen specialist where the guy's based. just a dealer whom I would think would sink a grand into the car fairly smartly?I'm not sure how reputable they are either. there's very few citroens around there. depends how far they're going to go too. I guess it requires further investigation.
I'm in that town this weekend. might go have a gander if it's accessible.

Did you ask a question CaM?

New Tyres (mispelt I noticed) that are 4 years old  Now let me get this straight the cars been parked up for 4 years on New Tyres that unless they had Nitrogen in (which I doubt from 4 years ago) they are probably flat which probably means the tyres are F$%^ed

Did you note in the last auction they wanted $1800 for the car and my guess is that is the reserve still?

nah i didn't/haven't asked any question.
didn't have time in the weekend (finally took my bx out of storage and took to wellingotn so i can work on it in the evenings :D)

the tyres may not be flat. probably more slipperly than a butchers, though.
