What you need is to go to a psychiatrist and ask for one of those nice jackets that buttons up the back, and a soft room to bounce around in...

I want too change my hydralic shocks too regular springs
Hi Ted,

I have to ask... why ? ?

The response speed of hydraulic suspension is up to 5 times quicker than conventional springs which keeps the tyre in good contact with the road much more effectively - also reduces tyre wear - 24K on the last Michelins on the front with the rears about half worn on the same miles.

It's always fun, and useful information, to find the limits of the car you drive - over the years I've slid and 4 wheel drifted everything I've owned - except the BXs - no idea where the limit is.

If you want a particular suspension setup you can chose spheres to at least get close - see http://www.tramontana.co.hu/citroen/sus ... /model.php for the maths and http://www.tramontana.co.hu/citroen/sus ... ension.php for more detail on the suspension.

And another aspect is cost - if you want a responsive suspension you are going to need gas shocks (if you can find some the right size and rate) - I needed to buy a couple of gas shocks for the granny because some drongo had fitted fluid ones - fortunately the price has gone down now to around £70 a pair - which is still more than a couple of spheres.

Hello Ted,

Leaf springs would be just what you are looking for. You can find them on old vans, Landies etc.

You just weld mounting brackets to the front and rear of the wheel arches, bolt the middle of the spring to the hub, and away you go !

Loads of people like yourself have been doing this mod, let us know how you get on.

I would suggest looking at the rear suspension from a C15 van, as I believe that this (conventionally sprung) will bolt straight up to the rear of a BX.
Not sure about the front, but it shouldn't be too difficult to find a McPherson strut of the same diameter with a similar top mount and fit that in place of the hydraulic strut (if you so wish to!) Note that the BX top mount is rubber and hence does not allow for any rotation (that being done by the piston in the strut).
Unless this is all a wind up?

you wouldn't want to wind your springs up before fitting them, the car will pogo off down the road.....
