2 SORNED BXs still available in Colchester
Hi All,
My 2 SORNED BXs are still available, for spares or repair.
I am only prepared to offer them as complete cars, and would consider giving them away for free. The buyer/taker would have to collect them.
Both are non runners; they are and iris blue 17RD on a D plate, and a 16 Meteor on a J plate.
I also have a selection of spares to go with these cars.
You may also have seen these advertised in some of the classic car journals.
Regards
John Podgorski/jrdpod.

Yes, the 17RD is a "pre facelift" example, but late enough not to have the small orange trafficators.

I just completed a swap yesterday...
I found on my '85 bx16trs mk1 that there was a couple of things compared to one from a '91 bx14 rendezvous
the swaybar on the mk1 had a grease filled boot which covered the main swaybar bushes. these were a two piece spherical plastic arrangement.
the 1.4 mk2 had standard rubber bushes.
you can't use the earlier swaybar as it doesn't have cutouts to lock the swaybar in place to stop sideways movement.... also the 1.4 bar has a bend in it to give clearance for the TU engine's exhaust which comes under the engine. there's enough clearance for the pipe off the xu engein, though.
also, be careful with tu-xu subframe swaps if relevant as the lower engine mount sits about 2" to the left of where it does on the xu engine.

Yes !electrokid wrote:Ok I know it's a daft question - is there any difference between Mk1 and Mk2 front subframes ?
Some early MK1's had bearings in the wishbones where there connected to the sub-frame and some later MK1's where changed to rubber bushes as are all the MK2's are, thus making the the actual sub-frames different due to the spindles sizes which connect the lower wishbone to the sub-frame.
If you have a BOL (Haynes Workshop Manual) it should all be covered in there if it's the early thick Grey book rather than the thin re-cycled paper version !
You may think this is a stupid question but how do think you going to attach the wheel's/hub's/suspension for use in the manufacturing of a trailer using the FRONT sub-frameselectrokid wrote:.........................
I want to make a trailer using two BX front subframes so I'm particularly interested to know if they are the same basic shape with mountings to bodywork in the same places.
Surely by using the REAR sub-frames with all the wheel/hubs, suspension arms and hydraulics's etc would be better/easier

Ive had several quotes to collect the cars back to me in Yorkshire and it doesnt make sense really.I,d love to save them from the crusher especially the blue 17RD as its such an early mk2 on a D plate.Dont like seeing stuff get scrapped but recovery firms are talking £300+ to shift them up to me.
