Would you believe its an 'automated' hack! Never thought i'd hear the day. Seems the Project isn't alone in being attacked. Basically it broke in using brute force, deleted all the files and posted there only crap leaving various back doors.
Fortunately nothing has been lost, and the forum wasn't it's self the source of the attack just a victim. I'm currently ensuring that all the files are as they should be then i'll put the site back online.
gawd damn'it

Hi guys. I signed in on here coz I still can't get on the project.
Another complication for me is, I think I was on line when it occurred.
I got screens flashing all round the main screen then an audio of someone laughing. Then a pic of some girl with the words you've just been hacked by caspers mom....then...only kidding.
The upshot is, my side of the computer has been taken over by whatever it is. I have one of these fake alerts from something called AV Security, saying my computer is infected. If I leave it alone, adverts for German porn sites appear. It won't let me open any programmes and has blocked my antivirus/ malware system from working properly. although its the only one that I can get on screen
It works fine if I log in as the missis her side is ok.
Obviously if anyone has any suggestions as to a remedy, I'm listening.

Bad luck. (Esp. the German porn
)
I'm guessing you're using MS Windows? So, I don't know what anti virus/spyware software you use, but ensure it's up to date (and the signatures database too).
When I was a Windows user I used to use something called Spybot Search and Destroy - free and comprehensive against trojans and such nonsense: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html I liked this software as it allowed screening of startup programs (loaded when Windows starts) and it was always an eye-opener how much junk and malicious software builds up sucking your resources as well as monitoring your internet activity.
For Antivirus ware it was AVG free: http://free.avg.com/gb-en/download-avg-anti-virus-free
It's been a few years since I've used Windows - Linux is much more secure - though I think I had my first Linux virus the other day - the day I was upgrading anyway, so a complete (proper) disk-wipe (dban: http://www.dban.org/) and reinstalling Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntulinux.org/) sorted that problem out. I'd even backed up all of my mp3's this time!
Oh, and make sure you have a Firewall setup and working properly.
Good luck
Steve

I tried running spyware doc with antivirus from the wife's side and it gave me the all clear, which it is of course on her side. When I switched back it was no different.
I noticed during the scan (on my side) the green line displaying progress, is not reaching the RH side as it completes each section, as it usually does.
At the end of the scan, it shows the trojan backdoor whatever as medium risk along with 23 tracking cookies as low risk. When I click "fix checked" again the green line only goes to about 1/2 way, then it says it's shifted them all. But of course it hasn't.
Oh. I have a firewall set up as well....much good that it has done !!!!!!
