Storing the expanding fleet.

Post by richardd1652 »

I think its time to start looking for some undercover storage for my quickly expanding fleet of cars.
At the moment they are sat in the open at my parents farm but as winter will be here only too quickly i feel they should be protected from the weather and it will stop them getting any worse.
Just wish i knew a friendly farmer who had an empty barn that could be rented for sensible money as industrial space is so expensive.
The plus side would also be that i can hide stuff from "her in doors" lol.

I rent two spaces at a local industrial estate which has 3 converted chicken sheds full of caravans, motorhomes and old snotters. Its dry, warm, and the "bays" are big enough to part a BX in and open all 4 doors and walk round it.

The only problem is it cost £950 a year! :shock: (for both), quite funny when the two cars that I store cost less than that £500 the pair! :lol:
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

How did you hear about your storage? Am i best searching local estate agents or putting an add in a local paper?
There used to be loads of empty mills around me but there all either been converted to trendy flats or pulled down.And even though im out in the sticks all the yuppies have converted the barns into houses.

@Richard.

It might be worth putting an ad in the "Raving" Herald (Craven Herald). I know a lot of rustic types around the Skipton / Settle / Grassington area read it....and you may just get lucky!

We pay 6K PA for the shed, which given that if it was filled with BX's rather than buses you could probably get over 100 in there makes your storage seem a bit steep!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Aye...reasonably local mate. I'm in Blackburn....but lived in and around Skipton/Malham area for a good few years. Used to be Bar Manager at the Buck in Malham, then the Devonshire in Cracoe. :)
Some of the Estate Agents that specialise in farms etc. could be worth asking too. They may know of farmers that are planning on downsizing or selling up.
