Clutch Cable.

Hi all I bought the White BX 19 d Estate on last month. I did intent to post some pics however been away for 3 weeks. Anyway the clutch cable snapped on the motorway.It actually had a temp clutch cable on it and a spare in the rear so im suspecting probably something more serious causing the cable to snap. The bullet shaped thing ( the manaul is in ther car !!!! ) that sits in between the clutch lever and the cable actuator fell off on the mortorway when the cable snapped.
My local garage said Citreon haven't got one !!!! ( as the cars so old) No BX's in my local scrappy.
Does anyone know were i can source one, then i'll have a go at fitting the new cable.

i have got one sitting on my vice at my work shop,

you can just use the shank of a bolt cut to the right length, and dome both ends,

were abouts are you,

piece of 8mm bar cut to length (you can make it longer but not shorter)
File the ends roughly rounded. Jobbed.

motor factors wont do the rod that sits between the clutch actuater arm and the fork, it will be main dealer only,

but its not hard to fabricate one out of a short length of rod or a bolt,

or you could always go for a walk up the motor way to see if you can find your original one TEA HE,

Thanks Gents,

Ive already been to a couple of scrappy's no joy ( no BX's)
I'll probably get an 8mm bolt and round the ends, after going to buy a vice.
( I knew I should have bought that one from boot sale !!!! ). The local guy in the viilage garage ( nowheresville kentucky) told me the Citreon didnt stock it as it was too old.
How long should it be.

Good point ! The originals were 26mm as I recall, but if you make it 30 it will last past the cable limit. There is always a good bit of clutch left when the cable set up as is tells you there isn't, or the cable has stretched a bit too much.

Mold eh! Well someone has to I suppose.

On the vice front. I hoisted a 6" one from work when I finished 20 years ago.
Now for a cast steel one, of the 4" variety they want 100's of pounds.

I'm going into the M/c shop in college next week to see if I can "hoist" a
"damaged" one
