You've done right on a couple of levels there. Nice save.

This is a lovely 14RE(close inspection will show the short nose bonnet ) but when i bought it ,the front end was all smashed up so i bought a scrap 17TGD in the right colour but with wrong bonnet/grille for a 14 petrol.Oh well its another one saved and now my Dad runs it as everyday transport. You may have seen it at Wetherby,he has put ZX whel trims on?

Hope these pics are of interest.

The red one used to be mine.
I owned it for a couple of years before selling it to an itinerant preacher from Lancashire, a couple of years ago.
I bought it in Cockermouth and couldn't believe its low mileage and fantastic condition - it still only had about 35K on it when I sold it if I recall correctly.
Other than sevicing - done by a couple of good independents in Middlesbrough and Thornaby - I think the only thing I had to do to it was replace the original tyres that were feeling a bit aged. I did fit a modern CD player in it - I may still have the original somewhere if originality is important to someone.
For a while I had "X"s of the A, B and C variety and there is a picture of them in a September Citroenian from a while back. The CX went to Jersey and the AX went to the can factory.

I am pleased this old girl is still in use, even if she has been abused along the way.

Hi Richard

Welcome to the photo posting club!

I'm sure everyone will like the pics, and you should definitely post a pic showing that great Webasto roof on your white one - there can't be many of those about..

I've been struggling with almost no credit on one of those crappy dongles, but I should be able to get the write up on my BX so far on line tomorrow

Hi Richard

No, I don't mind in the slightest. I used one of your photos of your dad's CX on Facebook a few weeks ago :$

Bad news today. The sodding garage have backed into my RD Turbo breaking N/S headlamp, indicator but most pi**ed off at them breaking my headlamp protector. He said I,ll replace everything good as new but like i told him the protectors are as rare rocking horse sh*t!!!!!!!!!!!!. Put an urgent wanted on the forum but as yet no response. Not a happy bunny!

Sorry to hear that Richard.

It's strangely ironic that originally the headlamp protectors were designed to be a cheap, plentiful, sturdy protection for the expensive and fragile headlights. Now the roles are reversed, and they are an expensive, rare and fragile item that you stick over the comparatively tough and cheap headlights.

So if anyone wants to sell some headlight protectors at £200/pair, the garage is paying :)

If you want them you can have mine at £30 a pair (I paid that!). Just let me know before the National. I have decided I like the original BX un'smoothed-out' look (just as the designer intended)! and it's certainly cheaper to obtain a replacement light...lol...
