One for Malcom, Citronut

Post by Gibbo2286 »

I've got an engine harness, new in the Citroen pack, that I've been trying to identify with a part number that doesn't come up on my catalogue search, maybe you could try in yours. Part number 6529.YV Gibbo.

Doesn't get any results on Google either.

You could take some pics particularly of the tail connections and post it to see if anyone recognises.

You could take it to the National to see if anyone recognises it.

You could note the layout and compare it with CCT diagrams.

Or you could get some Spitfire in and forget about engine harnesses for a while :-)

Thanks chaps, I thought that might be the answer, my local Citroen parts man it will have to be.

This is a quite long harness with a box attached with a couple of relays in it, doesn't look like anything pictured in the EP catalogue, it's the only piece out of over a hundred in a job lot that I haven't been able to identify. Gibbo.

Are individual wires numbered? This would give you a huge clue as to age, and might give a clue as to model. A picture might help us identify it.

Well its certainly modern.

Why do you think it is an engine harness?

My gut says it might be part of an airbag hasness, BUT airbag wires/connectors on a PSA car are usually orange/yellow. So basically i've been of no use :(

It came as part of a job lot from a closed down Citroen dealer in a Citroen bag with a Citroen part number which the first four usually relate to engine harnesses. :D If it quacks like a duck...................

On that white paper label it has a date 12.12.00 a makers nam Sylea, T230 number 1326535080

Also I can see with a magnifying glass 'CABLAGGIO ESATTO' which I think is Italian and translates to 'wiring exact'

As you said, cablaggio essato IS Italian for exact wiring.

If the lid will open on that black box without doing any damage, the innards may give a big clue as to what it is....

Unless the chip inside is a PIC in which case we can definitely say it's a widget.

Trying Shepherd Neames 'Early Bird' this evening - quite hoppy - quite bitter - quite nice :-)

Ok - the clues I've picked up on so far - I would guess the 2 grey connectors are outputs and fairly close together. The tab with the hole looks like a 0v / ground and the connector next to it may be power - the connector below that has 3 wires so possibly off to a sensor. The box looks as though it simply clips into place so probably not mounted on the engine itself - almost certainly nowhere hot.

The 3 wire connector could be CANBUS in which case the box could be doing anything.

Ok that's a better pic - Tab probably ground, one next to it probably power and the 3 wire is control for 2 relays. So power control with 2 outputs - fairly beefy looking connectors / wiring. It's a 'general purpose' box - there's space for a third relay - could be control for an add-on on option. And it bolts on - now we can see the screw holes.
