Looks nice.

It does indeed. I live in Sandy (although I don't recall ever seeing the car before :? ) and am more than happy to go and have a "non-expert" look at it if any one is interested. I would give me an excuse anyway! :)

I emailed seller and what concerns me is the "ticking" noise he mentions. Its been to Chevronic and they cant sort it out .I reckoned it was probably the hydraulic pump kicking in and out but it appears not to be the case?

Or creaking front struts ? But I would be pretty surprised if Rob did not "know" what it was.

The ticking noise i would presume to be the accumulator sphere being flat, strange that chevronics can't sort that, unless it's something else such as a knackered hydraulic pump as mentioned previously???

To quote a VERY reilable source .....

"I know exactly what is wrong with it,it needs a new piston ring, the
knock is from the engine nothing wrong with the cam or buckets.
It must be a piston fault but no one should be put of with the car as
its been a very well cared for car,it does not have any burning
issues with oil or starting faults,a very nice BX in my opinion."

BX Spotted on Ebay

Post by GaianB »

As the owner of the BX put up on your web-site, i was not very happy to find out it was on your web-site. javascript:emoticon('')

However, having now 102 people watching the sale- I can't really complain!! I set the sale up for 10 days as I never imagined there would be this much interest, i just didn't want it scrapped if not necessary.javascript:emoticon(':D')

I tried many years ago to join the BX owners club but never got a reply when putting my details on the the web-site.

I know that was years ago, but......

Anyway - are you allowed to do this without asking?

PS Being a non-techie, what is BB Code - and why would i know what colour LHM fluid is? I do know. but, honestly, i never paid any attention to it, must have gone in subliminally! This BX is/was my 3rd. My beloved Dark Grey Meteor turned over on ice. The people righting it, dropped it from the vertical causing the wheels to be driven through the base of the car - a VERY sad moment.

Hi GaianB,

unfortunately anyone advertising a car on e-bay or anywhere on the internet is bound to get noticed if a car forum exists for that partiular model. And as you say, you've probably now got a much better chance of selling your car for more money because of the post on the site :D

Good luck with the sale, & shame about your other car, sounds like they were idiots :x

Can i ask here, why were you unhappy? Because you didnt manage to join previously?

Any exposure is good exposure surely? once on e-bay your car advert is on the public domain basically and can be showed off to anyone willing to look at it.

And if the above is to be taken as gospel about the broken piston ring (and the source of the post im very happy to take as red that it is true) shouldnt maybe the auction be updated to say as much? If for instance a buyer takes delivery of the car and then browses in to the public domain that is BX club site and relaises it was seen that you have seen the information you might find all sorts of icky not as described, knew about fault, tradin standards etc etc sorta situation, which obviously no wants at all.

Aside from all that hope the car sells well for you, im only in northants and was sort of interested myself, but possibly not with a broken ring (a well know source of regular consistent ticking when broken)

Simon B posted this above and as i said above, im happy to believe it.
Im making no definite claims but the only person who would be able to make a statement like that would be the garagise whos worked on the car surely?
RM maybe?

In short, yes. If you're not happy about having the car listed here then I'll remove the thread, but I can't see why free advertising would cause you to be unhappy?

Since information entered into the interweb is out there in the knowledge it's "in the public domain" then no law has been broken and it's a free country, but if I have no problem removing this thread should you wish it.

It's just to weed out spammers and spambots, there's nothing subversive going on!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

My BX number 3 !

Post by GaianB »

!.. I am a SHE not a HE.

2. I have contacted Rob at Chevronics and asked him his view on the so-called reliable reports of the problem.

Until he tells me something - i will NOT update the details to say. I only say what I know. Afer all - eveyone else can look on this site and make their own mind up!

I recommend Chevronics in Letchworth to anyone reading this - i may as well do some advertiseing for him!!!

Simon B in Sandy...

Post by GaianB »

Surprised you have not seen the car - I do visit Sandy and park in the big Market car park mostly.

Keep your eyes open for the replacement - another BX, same colour, same type, but a Meteor! Still trying to get the previous owners badge off the bonnet. The previous owner died and his widow would really like it. Penetrating oil has so far failed to loosen it, onwards with more ideas?

See you????javascript:emoticon(':P')

PSjavascript:emoticon(':!:') Do you recommend the Citroen car club as we have an XM too.....javascript:emoticon(':!:')
