Passed it's test

Took it in for testing last week and it failed.

So I said to garage owner ,

a) You mend it
b) I mend it on your premises

Result was I went back after lunch and mended it myself on their wheelfree ramp (2 post ):D

Cv boot to offside outer
Replace ns top suspension mount
Wiper blade to front
Adjust os headlamp

And then took it for some welding

I'm a bit confused by the "Replace ns top suspension mount" is that the part where the sphere is attached or did you mean the engine mount?

It's the rubber bonded mounting between the upright strut and the body/ wheelarch

Crikey, never heard of anyone replacing that. Your MoT tester must be keen.

I take mine to the guy who does all the cars from the local independent Cit garage (medway citroen). He knows Cits and won't fail them for having oil in the suspension or something equally stupid. Didn't AlanS once say his car had failed because the headlights were "pointing too high" when actually the rear suspension had lowered?

Anyway, congrats on the pass and on doing the work. Well done.

The MOT tester has probably been told about those top mounts, some of them failed on the Xantias and there was a warning put out. Gibbo.

That's bizarre as they don't fail, unlike xm one's when they get rusty around that area. Personally i think the easiest solution is to remove any old rubber as it can trap moisture, de-rust the area & then paint it, surely an mot tester couldn't have any arguments about that as there is no corrosion on view?
