"STOP" + Coolant light

Post by Wooscary »

Hello

So, driving today, had the above lights come on. Pulled over and had a look. Started car again, light off. Carry on. Later it comes on again, then goes off and on and off several times throughout the journey in quick succession.

I'm thinking it might be just at the level of the sensor and so sloshing around while driving over bumps is making the light come on.

Check header, water visible, topped up slightly.

Light still coming on randomly while driving.

Thoughts?

Cheers

clean the connections - they may be dirty and may need a clean

properly check the coolant level and ensure it is OK

Ok, sounds like a good idea. Not sure which connections, or where they are though. :D

And as far as correct coolant level goes, there appears to be a sort of bar around half way up inside the header tank, is that the fill level?

Thank you.

yep that should be the fill level - can't remember on the bx but on the xm there is a plug/relay (brown) on the header tank and I assume it is the sensor for water level.

That would make sense, I'll take a look.

Much appreciated.
