Feed for radio required

Post by citsncycles »

Hi all,

I started fitting a radio into the car today (The previous owner had removed the radio & the speakers!), which requires both a permanent & ignition switched power feed. I have a permanent feed, but need to take a switched feed from somewhere - any suggestions as to the best place to take one from?

Thanks,
Mike Sims

I ran mine (and the feed for the sidelights) down from the digital clock.

Another option from Mat’s

If the wiring is original spec?? Above your left foot behind the panel you should find two 4way block connectors.
One brown, with 4 red wires…. supply to ignition key switch.
One 4way, white block connector, with 4 white wires…… return from ignition switch.
This connector may have a thinner gauge green wire with a single red connector—ABS supply.

Switch on ignition, probe the white wire connectors for a 12 volt + supply.

If the radio has a inbuilt code and in the event of possible ignition switch renewal, would recommend making a connection 3-4 inches away/downstream, after. The white block connector. Also, try avoiding cutting the white wire for continuity with any crimp connectors. Bare a small section then wrap round radio cable, solder then insulate.

Might be worth checking if a fuse is required on this feed.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Did Citroen do with the BX what they did with the 2CV and fit the same loom to all the cars regardless of the model? If so, then my car (with the quartz clock instead of the rev. counter) will have an unused feed for the digital clock I can use. If not, then I'll be digging out & checking those connectors.

All the best,
Mike Sims
