Accessory centre box/armrest

Post by KevR »

Whilst breaking the spares car (which started life as a 1987 TRS 1.6 before becoming a TD), I've rediscovered an accessory box/armrest thingy for between the front seats. I never got round to fitting it originally because I convinced myself it was a Mk1, and because it's covered in grey tweedy material which matched the original upholstery but didn't match the later TZD interior I fitted.

Having just looked at it, I think it's for a Mk2 after all – I think the mounting bracket fits where the two headphone plugs in the rear of the centre console go, and it then pivots up and down to allow access to the change/junk hole in the console.

So if anyone's got an early Mk2 with grey upholstery and fancies a nice period accessory, it's up for grabs. Happy to swap/part ex for other bits or make me an offer.

No worries, I certainly will, although I think it's all but a done deal. All I need now are matching headrests for the rear seats.....

That's a good find there. I've got a grey tweed one too.

I saw four of these in the same place last week at a French member's house. None were for sale, they'd been loaned to him by members of the French Bx club for re-covering in leather as he's a dab hand with a sewing machine!

Mat F sold his one at Sotheby's last year and was able to pay off his mortgage with the loot! :D

I expect that guy has serious security, armed guards and dogs etc.

Those boxes are the holy grail of BX accessories,
along with:

(Reaches for anorak and pulls up hood )

1. Working fuel computer
2. Boot storage doors
3. Armrest box
4. Door handle protectors

Has anyone got all four?

Mike

I was very seriously trying to get the door handle protectors that ended yesterday on ebay, but unfortunately the (insert string of expletives here) mobile broadband dongle decided not to work, and I missed them. :(

I hope that's a BX accessories anorak Mike! :D ( surely one was available?) With the matching BX tie..

I have got three of the four but no computer ( how can I show my face in public?). Last week - at the same French member's house - I saw dealer installation plans for all the Mk.1 BX accessories including computer - didn't know it existed for the early ones.

He also had the brochure for a paraplegic BX which came with sliding doors in the back. Looked pretty custom!

Ive got the armrest box sitting in the garage, mines got a black leatherette/vinyl top to it, i think it may have been re-covered in the past, not sure though. I take it these may be a rare find, any one got any idea what they are worth if i might decide to sell it?
