Yes it's Alex - I brought some bits of that one up to Gaydon for folks - and bought a few bits myself :-)

Had a cursory look at this earlier on my way back from Thorpe Park and it's not for me so i'll leave it for someone else.

Apparently, everytime I give an appraisal of a motor i'm slagging the car or owner so i figured just saying "not for me" was more appropriate...

But as you ask:

It depends on what your priorities are on an old motor, mine are "If the body's straight I can fix the rest". This car's body is not straight, I don't think there was a straight panel on it and the wonky headlamp is due to it being o/s/front-ended though the wing has been somewhat straightened out.

It could well be ok if all you want is a cheap workhorse, but if you have to factor in a clutch change I make that £300 car + £70 clutch (if you DIY), £50 on bits & pieces & £50 on a test... All this assuming YOUR tester doesn't spot something the last one didn't.

I didn't look at the rest as it would have been a waste of the sellers time.

Like I said, not for me. Not being negative, just cutting through the Brie

Thanks Jay.I think i will leave it also. Its a long way away and although i am after a "nail" as a workhorse it doesnt have a towbar so that would need figuring in to the cost also.Wonder what it will do £113 at the moment with days to go?

I popped in to have a look at it this afternoon - it's not good - but I'll hold off posting about it's problems until I've chatted with Alex about one particular thing I found - he wasn't at the garage today.

In the meantime I'll list its good points...

No real signs of rust on the rear quarter panels.

Glovebox lid is present and one of the hinges isn't broken !

That's about it !

If anyone is still going for this one here's a more comprehensive report...

Read the additions to Alex's listing in conjunction with this - basically if you want a tidy car suitable for washing in your driveway on a Sunday morning then there's a lot of work to do before it looks good. I would peg it as a spares car but someone with good bodywork skills could still save it.

OSF LHM leak evident - now apparently fixed - see listing.
A bump to the OSF has left the leading edge of the front wing in bad shape / corrosion - some evidence of this area pushed back slightly.
Front bumper OS not properly located in the square hole (rust ?) and no trim.
Front bumper NS no trim.
NSR door slight crease above trim line.
OSR door slight crease below trim line.
Rear bumper faded - small crack on OS and OS trim fitted with plastic rivets right through the trim itself.
Scratches to roof - 2 of them deep - 1 showing rust.
Will need a damn good clean inside.
Underbonnet looks tidy enough.
I couldn't see any rust on the rear quarter panels.
Glovebox lid one hinge broken.
Rear washer jet missing.

The cracked pedal box makes throttle operation a bit odd and it could also account for the heavy clutch.

It' doesn't sound that bad then? There's nothing there that would put me off buying it as a good work horse for the sort of money it is at the moment. But just a bit too far for us Northerners I think. (love the colour, looks great from here  )

Most of the jobs sound a fairly easy fix, plus if your not bothered what it looks like then not a bad buy.
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....
