Skidding Ramps

How do you stop ramps from skidding away?

I've screwed mine onto 25mm ply and then anchored the ply into the fround with spikes, but this necessarily means working on soft ground - not a delicious January option.

I remember the subject raised in the old forum, but didn't pay attention, Fool.

Strip of old carpet wraped around the bottom of the ramps and extending about 20" along the ground so you drive onto the carpet then onto the ramps always worked for me.

I do much the same as sleepy but with old seat belt. Tie the old belt onto the top rung of the ramp and run a long piece down the ramp and another metre or so across the floor. The weight of the car on the loooong bit of the seatbelt pins the bugger down and stops it escaping!

i was going to sugest exactly what alan has posted!! the Towbar man that used to come into work did this and i thought it was ingenious!

Must admit i tend to cheat and jsut jack the car up, stick the ramps under the wheels and let it back down again! Maybe i'm just lazy, oh that and the garage has a hug slope upto it, doesn't leave much room for errors!

I spend a lot of time chasing mine around the car park too, the undersides seem to be teflon coated

so I tend to get the car up on one, raise the suspension to high then kick the other side under, must get some old seatbelt webbing.
