1300 miles in three days...

Post by KevR »

... in the TZD Break. Normandy/Brittany border to Calais, Dover, up to Norwich, then Cambridge, Peterborough, Corby, Leicester, round and about a bit, back down to Dover and then back home.
Towing a trailer all the way (motorbike one way, several heavy three-phase workshop tools and steel workbenches the other) and back of car completely loaded up.

Didn't miss a beat! :D :D :D

But then, it's only got 160k on the clock, so it's virtually new.

That's surprising considering the time on the continent! Not surprised with the UK tho, on the Scotland trip a couple of weeks ago we only saw one in 2000 miles.
I have zero patience for your tedium.

With the fuel crisis and the fact I was driving both ways in the middle of the night I didn't see many vehicles at all...
In fact on the way up to Calais (10pm-2am ish) I think I saw about half a dozen cars, tops.

That's pretty good going Kev. We've driven from Kent to Fougere in one day, that was enough.

Normandy to Peterborough or thereabouts is pretty much bread and butter stuff for the BX, but usually using Caen or Cherbourg to Portsmouth or Poole. Due to this clashing with half term and Brittany Ferries wanting over 350 quid for the crossing, Calais/Dover was the only sensible option, but I hate going that way and usually avoid it if possible.

The BX has already been down to the Alps this year (stuffed with bicycles), and it'll be off to the Pyrenees for a pre-season training camp next march or thereabouts as well. Two racing bikes fit in the back with the front wheels out, one either side and secured with a bungee each - perfect race transport.
