Post by saintjamesy89 »

Im looking for a 1.4 BX, preferably wth fuel injection but I will consider all. MOT is essential, tax not so.

Hi Tom

Welcome to the club, no BX 14 models with fuel injection were available in the UK, it was discontinued before the need for efi and catalyst arrived.

They are all 1.4 carb with a manual choke which are pretty reliable anyway.

I take it the need for a small engine bx is running costs/insurance?

ah ok , carbs it is then!

My mk2 astra needs to go off the road for either an engine rebuild or an upgrade and some tuning.

Yes, running costs mainly, and I am not a diesel fan. My 1.4 astra has been perfect for me so far so a 1.4 bx should also be (same power, size etc). Im 21, so insurance for me is expensive, which rules out the 4x4 on ebay (dribble). Always wanted a BX though, my uncle had one and it was really cool. So logically, the 1.4.

It could be worth checking both the 1.4 petrol and the 1.9D (non turbo) on insurance as there may not be much difference, plus the 1.9D is more readily available even if your not a diesel fan.

The 14 is my favoured BX, as its nearly as good on fuel as a diesel but cheaper to insure and in the low tax bracket.Plus if your in to that kind of thing you can "mod" them with Ax GT bits.

Hi Tom and welcome, It's great that so many youngsters of today still think the BX is a cool car.

Thanks, I don't think the older citroens will ever be anything other than cool or retro. I do rather like 80's style cars though!

I know where a BX14RE sits with 44,000 miles on the clock.

Excellent condition, driven only every now and then to keep the suspension active :)

Not for sale though, I've already tried to buy it!
