Green Hornet in danger

Post by kermit the frog »

Hi All
The Green Hornet is in imminent danger of being a total loss.
I was minding my own business driving home when some ( sorry ) woman
Driver decided to pull out in front of me with only 20 feet between us and with the best will in the world 20mph to zero in 20 feet and no contact aint going to happen. :!:
The front end is looking very sad and my right ankle is swollen and painfully throbbing where i hit the brake peddle so hard i nearly pushed it through to the engine compartment.
The Green Hornet was still drivable if not legally lit.
Unlike the Astra which shall we say aint going too far under it's own steam.
I will do all i can to get the Green Hornet back to how it was prior to the incident.
But as we know we are in the hands of others.
Can you all keep your eyes open for a suitable replacement should one be required.
I will try and negociate with the acessor to keep the car
So that some of the Green Hornet can live on. ^^bx> :-({|=

Regards to all Kermit

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Another piece of BX history laid to rest... This isn't panning out to be a good year for some of the "old" character cars!

Bloody women!
I have zero patience for your tedium.

Hi Phil,
I glad that your okay, but if the cars not fixable ?
Have you seen this very tidy TZD ESTATE that's currently available on E-Bay, I now see that currently 2 bid's have been placed (£255) which means Ken's been outbid (As he stated that he'd bid on it when it was @ £250 and was then the only bid) so maybe it could be time to lay down the gauntlet and let the best man secure it !

Phil phoned me earlier. My main concern is that he is OK (and fortunately it would seem he is apart from his ankle! ), but now this piece of BX lore needs to be protected. I'm sure Phil will do everything he can to ensure it lives on...

 Sorry to hear about the accident, main thing is you're in the main allright, it's just a piece of metal, far better that to be written off than the wobbly jelly things that control them.

Some people are just bleedin blind, hopefully you can press charges for dangerious driving etc....damn bad luck that. I presume you have abs? if so was there no chance of steering round (i guess with that speed & distance by the time you reacted & touched the brake pedal you wouldn't have managed to knock all the much speed off tbh let alone think about steering round the incident).

Anythings mendable, importantly though Phil wasn't too badly injured by the sound of it.
Cars are replacable etc..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Hi All
Thanks for all your support i am ok the car is a little worse for ware.
I am going to email some pic's to Phil Chidlow as i don't at present have the facility to post them myself. :(
Having worked in a body shop many years ago i can honestly say that it looks BOLLOX'D.
I will do my best to get the best settlement i can because of it's short but colourfull recent history in the club.
But i am not going to hold my breath.
They say provonance is good for antiques well lets see if it works for BX's

Although it isn't clear, from what Phil tells me, the detail damage to the front structure/components is pretty bad. A sad day...

Commiserations Kermit. I'm glad you're relatively OK - It could easily have been worse if you hadn't managed to do at least some braking in time.

If the insurance valuation is laughably low, I would suggest that you seek an independent one - perhaps approach one of the people who run the UK BX club for a realistic reflection of its market value.

It's a pity, but as others have said, at least you're (relatively) ok.

Good luck with the insurance people, and don't let them bamboozle you into accepting peanuts.

Thanks Matt
That seems a very good way to go i may ask Tim to give me an idea as he knew what the car was like and i can send him a list of what i have done to it.
I am going to walk down the road ( as there has been a COCK UP with the hire car) and buy a lottery ticket my luck is due for a change
I wish i could strip it out to see the actual amount of movement in the chassis.
That way i could have a better idea as to how far everything has moved and what needs replacing.
It's going to need a nearside wing ( which i have) a bonnet ,nearside headlight and indicator possibly a slam panel and front x member the bumper maybe salvageable. the radiator seems to be in contact with the hydraulics at the front of the engine but is not holed. :o
It has not lost coolant and starts ok and the suspension goes up and down ok i drove it home the mile or so and all seemed to run as straight as it was before the ding  .
Apart from the damage you can see in the pictures there is not much else.
I am getting a visit from the insurance accessor on monday morning so i will let you all know the outcome.
If you could all cross everything that can be crossed for good luck that would be much appreciated

Regards and thanks for all your support Phil / Kermit
