Are rear arms interchangeable?

Post by toddao »

Is it possible to replace the arms from a non-ABS BX with those from an ABS model? Is it possible to just swap the hubs?

Thanks
Todd

Hi Todd,
I not quite sure what your asking here (Should that have "for a non-ABS") :?

Anyway the basic arms are identical, but !

You can fit arms from an ABS model to a NON ABS model, it will work fine (I've done that in the past) I just removed the sensor and left same hub on too !

But if your trying to fit non-ABS to a ABS version you will have problem as the ABS version arm have additional cast lug on them to mount the ABS sensor into !

The hubs are different for the ABS as they have the additional reluctor ring fitted to the outer rim of the hub.

I hope that is of help to you.

Yes, that has answered my question, thankyou.

The arms on my non-ABS Estate are beyond repair ( as discussed in the rear arm bearings sticky) and the only donor I have access to is a later model with ABS. I was vaguely thinking that I would have to swap the hubs but you say I can use the same hubs - that's good news!

The not so good news is the donor vehicle is in a snowy field and it's below zero! Oh well..
