Bande réfléchissante hayon ............. peut etre?

From experience, French often doesn't bother with dedicated words for technical stuff - for example the French for a spark plug is "Bougie" = Candle :?

I quickly learned to make up and concatenate words in the same way as my native German. Walking into a French car parts emporium and asking for a "A belt that drives the alternator" Une ceinture qui entraîne l'alternateur"worked perfectly every time.
