BX works again!!!

Post by Stinkwheel »

Well after about 4 weeks i guess off the road the tesco value BX lives again.

Thanks to many people here who offered advice and parts, thanks to ken and i believe scarecrow who pointed out that medway citroen had a BX14 in for breaking and also Remy at medway citroen who braved the snow to go and remove the parts from the car for me and had them delivered 2 days before christmas. All sterling stuff.

So earlier i braved the cold driveway and the snow on the ground and car and everything to fit the correct pump and brackes, put on the correct 6.35mm pipe and new belt, primed and bled it up, job well done, except i need to retighten the HP pump belt again now its done a couple of miles.

Now its all as god (or citroen, which is much the same thing, in as much as i don believe in them) had intended the pipe may actually last and not fracture every hundred odd miles or so like the last 3 have. I have every faith, well i have some faith, well i hope it works, well, i've another pipe on order already just in case

Well done! Car repairs in winter are not fun - all that cold metal and snow..

I remember we had a Russian member here for a brief time and he was doing all his repairs outside, deep into the minus, up to his neck in snow. No wonder he's gone quiet - probably turned into a Cornetto and is still lying rather still under the only BX in Russia somewhere out on the Steppes! :D
