Scrapping the TZD...

...was fun. Paul W came round and helped drop the front subframe and engine and box out in one go, then we hoofed it on its side and wrenched the rear subframe off - most of the mounting bolts were rusted to bits. Then we sliced it up with the grinder and stuck it in Paul's trailer, and had time left over to chop up an odd 2CV shell that had been cluttering the place up for years.
Lots of points gained on the domestic front, just in time for hordes of visitors to turn up for new year and not be confronted with a scrapyard - hurrah!

Hard to believe there's a whole estate shell here (doors excluded) and most of a 2CV.

That's the french version of the Athena known as the Milliseme, nice car, should have a dark grey/blue interior?

Looks like a good day's work! Lovely house you've got there as well - with the H-van snug in its little tunnel - how old is that building - it looks ancient?

That one's Paul's - I think it's grey interior but I lose track. He's got another one almost identical as well, but TD (this is NA).

We were both wearing everything we possessed - it was a bit nippy...
What you see in the pics isn't the house - it's one of the barns. House is about the same size again but a (bit) less knackered). Then there's another slightly smaller barn full of workshops and bits and pieces.
Earliest date on the property (carved stone lintel with a master builder's name, to the right of the arches) is 1696, but it's hard to tell as there's probably been something here since long before that and stone tends to get re-used. Immediately inside the same bit of barn with the 1696 inscription is a beam carved 1777 - thoroughly modern!

No, it was just family and friends - actually only half a dozen of them, but when you're used to living down the end of a long lane and not having to be sociable most of the time, even half a dozen feels like a horde! Got some work out of them though – chopping down some trees for next year's firewood.

Ah, that's one of the barns. Now I know where you keep your assorted 'wacky races' vehicles Kev! Lovely place.
Did you take it on as a wreck? After the French abandoned their old heritage buildings and moved into new ones. Any chance of a pic of the house?
I live in an old house too which we are slowly fixing up. Not so much 'breathing space' as yours unfortunately as we are part of a terrace without even a parking space. I'm always interested in other peoples' resto projects!
