Post by Philip Chidlow »

As bright a white BX as I've seen recently - must be washed in Persil!

V. low mileage...

That's a whole lot of money for a BX14...

495 squid would buy you a pretty decent TZD TD with all the gizmos!

Looks nice tho, can't argue with the mileage etc. But is it on its original cambelt, clutch etc. Hm.

£495 is high, but if the servicing (belts included!) is pukka, then over time it'd probably save money on a 100k miles 1990 TZD maybe? Insurance would be good too, I guess.

Not for me though. Not enough spec. or grunt.

I drove a basic BX with no power steering at a CCC rally once - it wasn't that bad! Remember I'm used to a GSA, which is rather heavy at parking speeds. Good for your biceps :D

Rat smelling time?

Has non-standard spoiler, painted bumpers not original were they? - and painted wheel trims?

At the least I'd say that was new paint and I'd have thought the front bumper may be from another car and someone hasn't bothered to remove the spoiler.

probably a good sound car despite all that.

I would think that the Preview came with white trims and bumpers as a special edition. The St Tropez did.

I don't see no spoiler... :?

Am I right or did Practical classics list the BX GTI in their valuation section (which implies 'classic' status) - until recently that is when it was changed to 16v! Did they get it wrong all along?

Also, Autocar did a 'Yesterday's Heroes'-type piece (can't remember the exact title) not so long ago about the BX GTI? I haven't seen it so if anybody knows what the Dickens I'm on about, I'd love a scan/copy...

Autocar did the 'High Mileage Heros' section on it.

It was actually the BX16v they featured specifically.

They've done one on the Xantia Activa too.

I've got to say that I've been really pleased with the performance of my BX14, sure its not the worlds fastest car but it definatly has enough grunt for most conditions, not too bad on fuel, insurance is cheap and steering really isn't that heavy at all. Think this one might have the earlier 1400cc engine so might drive slightly differently to mine.
