Gas Emmisions Tester

Post by Vanny »

Anybody know anything about Gas Emmision Testers?

Specifically the Protech FLUX 2000

Dont ask, i got one of Ebay for what i consider to be an absolute steal!

However i know it needs calibrating and i have no idea where to get that done (or at least who to call and how much it will cost)

And better still i dont actually know how to use it!

Any suggestions?

Hey Vanny, I think theyre an optical device, having a light source and a diode which measues light hitting it, more smoke, less light, I think the lamps fail or get dirty occasionally.

Well this far it all seems to work. That is the printer prints, it warms up and can calibrate its self to some extent, after that the buttons are loosely marked and all seem to have multiple functions, bit of a pain really!

Have discovered that the intake hose has a split at one end, but thats easily fixed! Oh and its not suitable for MOT's anymore. Just got to find a smog tester now (so this wont be much use for diesels), oh it says its infra red so sounds like your right there Stewart!

From what i can remember as stewart says the lamp fails or gets dirty, now for calibration i am not sure who would do it in your area but it is usually quite expensive to get equipment calibrated. you can usually find Most test equipment manuals on the internet if you have a good search around you might have to pay a couple of quid or so for it.
go to this web page and download the manual for the 4000 it might give you some ideas on how it works.

been searching for the manual for hours and no luck.

It says its a Kamasa FLUX 2000-200-4, but its actually amde by Protech who have a pretty good website but no downloadable manuals so i've emailed them and i'll see what they come up with!

its just so pretty and green :D

Also turns out my mate needs to tune his Mini so i might get it setup sooner rather than later!

I can calibrate the sanp-on, blue point and Kane meters where i work (and often do)

what gasses does it sample? Just CO2 or is a 4 or 5 gas jobbie?

has it a voltage controlled element? Most likely if its a single gas unit.

I also have access to known value calibration gas.

PM me if you think i can help.

Oh and i can also tell you vanny that the unit certainly 'used to be' and might still be an MOT test approved unit.
