WANTED 2 4x4 BX's - estate & hatch ££ available

Decided to change my Mercedes 300TE (it's a good one!) for BX 4x4, preferably estate - due to long trips and fuel prices. 40mpg hoped for from BX against 27 for the merc makes a difference. Have messaged about the black one on here and seen the one on ebay. Any more out there? - don't mind a project as long as the body is not rusty. My BX14TGE might come up for sale too if I can replace the Merc with a good 4x4 quickly, otherwise I'll use it whilst getting something back on the road as the merc will have to go to make room.

Erm, you wont see 40mpg out of a 4x4 unfortunately, it'll be low 30's at best, that was one of the things that ruled out a 4x4 against a 2wd gti that i was also looking at, & even that only managed 36mpg at its best. Now if you could get hold of one of those lhd diesel 1.9 n/a's that were sold outside of the uk, then you might get 40+mpg. Either way, i'm sure any 4x4 will be better on fuel than your merc, they'll be quite a bit lighter. All the best for your search, it would be good if you could save Dean's black one which i think you mention?

thanks for the info - my journeys are roughly 1000 miles at steady 60mph most of the way (France). I normally get 19mpg from the merc here on the isle of wight, which boasts a 3/4 mile dual carriageway restricted to 40mph!!! My BX hatch gets nearly 60mpg on this journey but only 37 here. I'm still hopeful (over £100 saving each journey) but appreciate 'normal' use is indeed likley to be 30 something - still want one

You do realise that it needs restoring?Secondly Richard has first refusal on it.It's an awfully long way to trailer a car,but if you're interested and Richard is not,you're quite welcome to come and have a look,or maybe get somebody to come and give you an honest appraisal

Hi - yes realise it's in a bit of a sorry state

but interested all the same. I am in contact with the man with the estate on ebay but what is Richard's position on yours? Any chance of some pics, scrutiny in all the rusty places - I'm quite happy to rebuild it at the right price (or swap?) as long as the rust worm hasn't got a hold. Cheers

Have decided to rationalise the 'fleet' even further so now 2 4x4's wanted - a hatch and an estate. Dependant on what is available when, my BX14TGE (only 50K) will come up for grabs at some point. We have decided to run 2 4x4's to keep parts common. Also 1997 alfa 2.0 gtv will be available as well as the merc. Anything considerd so please get in touch. Thanks

I love BX's! You can fix them

A doddle compared to what I normally work on. Suspension change - 2 hours, clutch adjust 5 mins etc.... compared to audi headlight bulb change - 2 hours..... and other 'modern' stuff
