key wont go into ignition

I can't get my carkey to go into the ignition...(its not the key, I have two of them, and they work in the doorlocks)
I have to use a flashlight and a tiny screwdriver to push up two small metal-things inside the ignition, then it works...
but when I pull out the key and try to put it back in it will not go in...
any ideas?

the tinny stainless steel blade's across the tumblers in the lock barrel have worn through,

the best fix is a new or good second hand ignition lock,
