A nice return on returns.

Post by toddao »

While refitting the doseur the LHM return pipe split and continued to split as I cut it down gradually trying to get a 'good bit.' I had no choice but to order a replacement from our friends at Citroen and while I was ordering I thought I should get an octopus in too as that shares some of the same routing as the split return and also appears to be of similar vintage.

I went to collect this morning and they took €100 off me for both! And that was after Herr Wolf - the parts guy - took pity on me and gave me a ten per cent discount. He thought it was robbery too.

These pipes are now made in Poland and according to the date stamped on them were only made last week. So they're still making them, even if they do look in my opinion a bit shoddy.

One small compensation was that my 2 year old daughter was allowed to play with the Ferrari slot car racing that has been set up for the Ferrari salesmen. I think I mentioned this before - they mostly deal with Ferraris, Bentleys and Maseratis now. The Citroen area is somewhere round the back!

Then as we crossed back across the showroom on our way out she stroked the prancing horse badge on one of the brand new models and said: Ferrari.. lovely!

How long will she be happy to ride around in a BX?? Til she's three?! :D

I do hope that you've not developed any anti-Polish feelings after living in Germany for so long...

I wasn't blaming only the Poles for the shoddy pipes - it's the French who made them do it afterall! They're probably reasonable quality they just look a bit overmoulded here and there compared to the original set I'm pulling out.

I knew many hard working/drinking Poles in my squatting days in Brixton. They were pretty tough and often acted as security down the street when things kicked off! Good lads.

I know, was only pulling your leg :) Mine looked a bit 'frilly' too - I'm guessing the tooling is getting a little worn by now! But good to know still available, albeit at a price.

BTW, my Mum's parents were Polish - settled over here because of the war. Unfortunately I only know 2 words of Polish.

I know several interesting Polish words courtesy of my Polish mates at work!
Wouldn't know how to spell them, but I'm sure you can guess the sort of thing..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Some of their pilots received a raw deal shortly after the war.

Didn’t they have a better success rate than several UK squadrons??
