Bugger, thankfully the bumper on a TZD is the same as any none 16v Mark 2 model (hatch) so I'm sure one will show up, I wold check behind the bumper for any damage.

trust noone was hurt.

Hi all, no one was hurt luckily. I called the insurance this morning and they said if I did make a claim I would have to pay the first £250 and they would probably "write it off".
I told them I could get a bumper for £40 and fit it myself, so they seem to be happy with that.
Insurance is such a con.

You only need to claim against your insurance if it was all or partially (knock for knock) your fault, surely?

:o Eh, i thought someone rear ended you? so your excess is irrelevant as you're claiming off them & not your own insurance which has the excess not the other parties surely???

Still have tp pay your excess and then claim it back from the third party. Happened to my dad two years ago and took him 18 months to get the money back!

There's something called money in lieu. You get the payout (not having to deduct your excess) the and your insuruers claim the excess against the other party. Until they do get it, your record shows that you have claimed.

At least that's my understanding.

Or at least my understanding of what I experienced!

I thought the excess when not your fault is deducted as routine anyway but then you have to pursue the other party/insurer for what is termed "uninsured losses". There is sometimes an addon policy you can buy for that company to do this extra work for you.

As far as my dealings with Admiral have been, the 'money in lieu' is the amount of the excess I believe.

Hi All,
thank you so much for all of the replies to my posting here, especially Andy who gave me a bumper for a few beers. Here's my beloved TZD with new bumper fitted just needs the respray, which I will do once the weather is a bit better. Cheers Kevino Image
Insurance companies are arseholes !
If I had claimed they wanted to take the car away to be "assessed" and I can guarantee that would have been the last I would have seen of it.

Is that post holding the bumper on and is that the culprit that rear ended you in the first place  ?

funny angle that photo, the post is literally 15cm's from the bumper. I have seen other bigger cars trying to get into this space and hitting the post. Not me though. ha ha ha
