Front strut weight

How heavy are BX front struts without the sphere?

You can probably guess where i'm going with this..

namely across the Irish sea :)
'92 16TXS (m), Dark metallic green, 74k
'90 16TZS (m), White, 86k
'89 19TRS auto, Olympic Blue, 133k
'88 Saab 900 8v Turbo (auto) 107k Red with Tan leather, lovely drive and well maintained.

they're bl :shock: dy heavy i found after lumping them about moving house. i'd say more like 10kg each at least?

Surprisingly light actually - 3.6kg! I checked on 2 different scales as I didn't believe it, I must be getting weak. This is without the sphere or top mount, just the bare strut.

How do you want to claim your prize Mulley? :lol:

If you needed one desperately to get you out of trouble I'd be prepared to loan you one, but they'd not be ideal for use long term. I took them off after 140k or so as they seemed to be getting a bit sticky. The good second hand replacements I fitted then (as a temporary measure until I rebuilt these... :oops: ) are still supple 60k later, which is just as well really!

well i never. I'll go to the foot of our stairs and all that. That top sphere mount bit is cast from something heavy though i think.

Yes, the strut top weighs quite a bit as well, so combined it might weigh over 5kg. Prize, erm, some re-conditioned struts please :lol:

Perhaps i'm soooo strong, everything seems light :wink: :lol:
