LHM flowing out again

Noticed a leak at the weekend when i'd parked up, stop lights came on when i was driving. Got home put some lhm in & stop light went out, it was nr the driver side wheel, so i presumed (it was dark) that it was the strut return pipes that had gone.

Today i've hada a look, strut return pipes are fine, i couldnt see the leak, it was above the subframe between the wheel & the large engine mount on the bottom, so it was out of view. Didn't get right underneath as the car is on the road & unsupported. When i dropped the height lever from high to normal about 1/2 litre of foamed up lhm pissed out very quickly :shock: Before it was just a bad leak.

Is it possibly the octopus thats gone? or are there some other pipes that are out of view that it might be?

is there any sign of citro blood ontop of the chassis rail by the end of the engine,

if so it could be the return pipe from the bottom od the dosure valve,

Is that a difficult one to replace? I'm going to have to take the car into an indie citroen as its well beyond my capabilities :(

Almost certainly the octopus in that case. You also lose fluid when driving as the suspension moves. Interestingly this loss of fluid can be minimised say to get the car home by setting the height control to intermediate when almost no fluid will be lost. So driving to the garage on intermediate should work for you.

The charge to expect from your indie garage is 3hours Labour plus the Octopus. (GSF octopus is about £30 iirc)

Cheers, so you'd recommend me setting it to that height whilst on my way to the garage, its booked in for tomorrow. Luckily i've got a spare octopus already. I presume its the large one & not the small one?

Garage rang me to say that the one i'd supplied was the wrong one, it would appear that i have the 2 pipe output one which i'm guessing is the non pas version. So ordered one from citroen for £72.01 :shock: Couldn't believe it was that expensive, i thought it would be less than £50.

What do you guy's think, seeing as one of the octopuses needs changing i asked how much more it would cost to replace the other one at the same time. My logic was that if one has split a couple of times now, how long will the other one last as well as i presume its the original as per the other one. Does it make sense whilst i'm paying mega bucks to get it fitted to get the other one done as well for peace of mind?

I negotiated a total time of 4hrs to do both or if i just did the one thats split then thats 3hrs. Thats at £40p/h plus vat, i'm leaning towards getting both changed as i already have the correct other octopus anyway so in effect its only an extra hours labour, any thoughts? I still want to cry, bang goes my birthday money on some fishing tackle, its all going on the white whale instead :cry:

Ray, just a thought, if the guy can remove all of the octopi off without damaging them, do you want them to test on your car?

I should be getting delivery of the octopus this tuesday so hopefully book the car in that week to get sorted, so should have the pipes if they are ok in time for Wetherby or did you want them posting?

The Octopus is the one with small pipes that lives above the subframe not far from the front height corrector in a very difficult space to work in. (It lives in the depths and is not easily seen. :wink: )

I guess this thing you are referring to as the large octopus is the visible nest of pipes attaching to the LHM reservoir? This is not likely to be your problem.

Front height corrector return pipe? I just changed mine recently on the TZi, wasn't a fun working space. My symptoms sounded very similar to yours though.
