replacing metal fuel pipes under the car - any advice please

Post by BX Meteor »

I did a forum search and there have been a couple of posts about the pipes but nothing specific about actually doing it, here is the most relevant post I could find: Fuel pipe

My questions are
1. how do I get to the rubber hoses
2. where do I get the pipes from

More detail:
1. The front rubber hoses look easy, but let me know if this is a potential can of worms. The rear rubber hoses look a swine to get at, do they pull down, if so how far, or do I have to detach them from the top of the fuel tank, if so can I get at them from below the rear seats (I cannot see because all the original padding is presently glued down, don't want to pull it up unnecessarily)
2. A seller is selling both pipes on eBay ... Feed on eBay .... Return on eBay ... has anyone used this seller, or is there another source (I don't think GSF sell them any more)

thanks in advance

I've used AEP (the eBay seller) many times before and they know their stuff. If you are ordering more than one item from them it may be worth ordering using their website or by phone rather than ebay, as postage will work out cheaper than multiple eBay items. Here is a bit more info on fuel pipe changing.

Underneath the padding you will find a plastic cap (on the driver's side), under which is the fuel tank sender and rubber hoses. It is (just!) possible to do them without removing the rear rubber hoses but much easier if you do, and renew the rubber ones at the same time.

Aha, a very useful post, I did the search as "fuel pip*" on every forum but it came up with literally hundreds of posts, so I limited it to the Technical Forum.

Thanks for the tip on going to the AEP website, I would not have thought of that.

I've moved the thread to the Technical forum, so should be easier to search for in future...
