BX16V misfire

Post by Adrian (NZ) »

My 16V has an annoying misfire that I'm having trouble diagnosing. I've changed the plugs, leads, distributor and rotor. I have checked and cleaned the connections to the ignition and fuel injection components, and the injectors have been serviced. I have not yet changed the coil.

I noticed driving it today that whenever the misfire occurs, the tachometer dips a little, more than I'd have expected. Is it possible there could be an intermittent fault in the ignition circuit that also powers the tachometer?

Any ideas welcome!

Its a low voltage ignition problem.
Check for internal break in wiring. Ignition module and ht coil are the usual suspects since you have replaced the distributor.

What condition is the fuel pipe in? I had a misfire around 2000 rpm same as you went through all the usual stuff plugs, ht leads etc. Replaced the fuel hose from the rail to the feed pipe under the car runs perfect now. Length of hose from local motor factor was £8. Job took 30 mins max. :)

Thanks for the advice. I'll try the module and coil first. I don't think it's fuel because of the tacho twitching when it misfires, but you never know with these cars ...
