It seems to have had a tailgate swap at some point and I notice half the induction hose is missing :? Ideal for squirting easystart in!

If it is a DTR, it's also had a change of interior, but don't don't they make you laugh when they tell you how easy to fix some of it's repairs are.

If they are so easy, get them done!!

"Car has not been thrashed while in this ownership but this engine really goes and has plenty of torque for a diesel"

...but thrashed by someone else. Anyway, if it's been standing for a few years, how does he know how it goes?! Looks like a real horror story to me. Let him send it to the scrappers IMO.

Indeed!

Although it's very close to me and could be a reasonable save, he's not going to get £250 on the weighbridge anywhere round here, or on ebay I wouldn't think.

You'd have to be very dedicated to put in the work to get it on the road again, and that means him selling it for peanuts. I did chuckle at the starting price though.

Ken, your wrong on that one, the 17 DTR TURBO had the same seats/material as the later TZD Turbo's (which had the 60/40 rear split seats) as against the 17 DTR TURBO's which just had the full folding rear bench seat's as the rest of the BX range for that era (Pre the Black coated suspension/brake pipes and smoked rear lamp's), the only extra fitted item which was not a factory/available spec. item (At the time) is the front bumper spoiler/splitter which has been fitted from a later GTi/TZD or possibly a complete front bumper change but the top half is Grey and the bottom half is white !

Also note the rear bumper looks like its Grey in photos #3 & #4 but ALL White in #5 (Or is it just the photo's) :?

Possibly, as the tailgate just have 'BX' and 'Citroen' badges on, it should have 'DTR TURBO' and 'Citroen' if it had not been messed with but it does have the matt Black spoiler look which is correct for the year/spec. unlike the all white painted one (If it had that fitted) with the solid 'C' pillars in the back ground (that look's like a 14 Preview/St Tropez as the top door frames are also all White) !

Ken, it could be a 'BOGOF' offer then it would be worth paying £250 for them both ?

Makes me feel better about mine though!

Mine's taxed and tested, has met its reserve and is still cheaper (at the moment) than that one!

Hmm that looks VERY tired, lots of miles, lots of rust etc. A rare car but scrap fodder it seems!

Shame.
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

I agree with you Tim, BUT remember IT IS a ^^bx> and it's on the DOORSTEP of the 'YORKSHIRE RIPPER' !
Edit:- Sorry, 'YORKSHIRE RIP-OFF MERCHANT' (^^bx> CAR DEALER), with NO bid placed as yet or the bidding has ended early
(like the MK1 GT earlier today) rather strange

Maybe not rare enough or profit to be made on this one (To bag before anyone else gets a look-in) ! what do you think :?:

I don't think he's listing the other BX - he's just caught it in the background when snapping the DTR. The listing is pretty unambiguous about which car it's talking about. Still can't quite believe how optimistic he is about the starting price being scrap value. :o

Optimistic is his middle name, I've had dealings with the "retired mechanic" before.

Hi Des,
Whats your optimism/view on the DTR's seller, other item that they currently have listed on E-BAY too ?

Umm, not quite sure what to think, other than a £250 starting price on a whole car now looks quite modest...

Regards the plates plus VIN offer, this looks distinctly like an invitation to ring another Mk 1 Escort to me. I shouldn't be at all surprised if Mr Plod comes round for a chat.
