Brake Lights

Alfaman kindly spotted that my brake lights didn't appear to be working, apparently they flickered on & went straight off.

I've checked them & noticed that if i press the brake pedal gently, nothing happens, only when i press it harder do they come on.

I'd be grateful if anyone could let me know what might be the problem? Just what you need when driving in the dark

I'll be using my foglights manually just incase they aren't working.

brake light switch just wants adjustung.It's a micro switch that screws in or out to adjust the sitch on point.

It's like a switch with two wires going to it

Yes it looks just like a brake light switch

from memory it is screwed too far in if the lights are not coming on till the bottom of the pedal; You undoe the lock nut, take off the 2 wires, unscrew the switch a couple of turns and try the pedal (you will here the switch as it opens and closes) then when you get correct adjustment , nip the lock nut back up and reconnect the wires.

Just a thought, before you adjust the switch make sure the little plunger is releasing ok and not sticking. It should slide in and out easily with movement of the pedal.

Cheers for that tip, i'll squirt a bit of lubricant down it if its sticky.
