For ~£15, this is a useful gadget to have - for those DIY diagnostic/detective moments ... like figuring out if brakes are binding (hub temperature goes up), engine warm-up problems (measure hose temperatures), or which cylinder is off (uneven exhaust pipe runner temperatures. Put it on Santa's list.
