I've had on and off correspondence with Edridge cars (AKA Leroy) and he is a genuine Citroen nut. He seems to have a few passing through at any one time... a CX, a Visa and I think, a GS/GSA he wants to sell. I was interested in the Visa and he was going to send some pics to me...
I think he's less concerned with the 'cosmetic' side than some, but he seems very genuine.
I certainly think the Edridge Motors site you mention is his, as a CX Fam' I was, at one time interested in (he wanted £295 but needed work) is now 'done up' and on there for £995. When I first spoke with him a year or so ago he was still working full time and it was more a 'hobby' then so he's obviously found a way to make it work.
I have suggested he registers with us... when he gets a mo.

I rang him about a week ago about replacing my radius arm bearings and he quoted me £120 for the pair which seems a pretty good price. He said that he has customers lined up for diesels but he can’t get enough of them. If anything he seems to be restoring rather than scrapping Citroëns. I say good luck to him !

Interestingly, when I later spoke to his (Leroy's) mechanic on a different number the price for the bearings went up to £200, saying that the bearings cost £50 each. In fairness I didn't tell the mechanic that Leroy had quoted me £120 for the pair. My local scrappie recently quoted £20 for a BX strut with 90 days warranty, which seems pretty reasonable. The best quote I got for the bearings down here (near Southampton) was £240. As a mater of interest I also got a quote of £20 and 90 days for the radius arm (to be checked by them for useable bearings); does this seem a sensible alternative to changing the bearings ? As you can gather, I have very little heavy duty mechanical experience; I have been toying with the notion of buying the gray Meteor with the blown head gasket that has been relisted for £50 on eBay and swapping the arms. Presumably I could also swap the struts and reclaim other useful spare parts. It would seem to be a pretty good way to get some mechanical experience.

I think, in the end anyone will tend to charge what the market will bear, and in Leroy's case I think he's probably got much higher overheads now so is unable to do jobs at a very low price. I don't know - the choice is always the customer's...
Anyway, I just had an email from him and he wants to join this Club so I gave him the info. He also was trying to tempt me with a TZi auto estate!
