Heres a good example of why you should always get your cambelt changed regularly!

Such a shame. I'm not sure what sort of damage is done to a diesel engine if the belt breaks while it's still running - but happened to my 16 TGS; 600 quid for a complete rebuild - and that was 15 years ago! Might get broken for spares unless someone's handy with a spanner?

It's interesting how he states it will run for a few seconds, then cuts out.

Normally they smash the camshaft or bend the valves or both, either way they don't run or at least run but very badly.

It would be useful to know what it sounds like when running.

Camshaft will be in bits & the cam bearing caps will either be damaged or snapped as well. Might be lucky & thats all that needs replacing, or would the valves be bent as well?

That's my point! if the camshaft was bust, it wouldn't run at all. If the valves are bent, you'd know when you hear it run.
But if it runs OK but only for a short time, it could be a really easy fix.

On the other hand...... :(

Possibility of being timed up wrongly possibly?

Anyone out there with a spare head could end up with a good car I expect.

I'd go with the "wrong timing" idea. Having experienced this twice recently, the cam snapped both times and although i've chucked it back together now just so it's moveable it still runs with the 3 slightly bent valves.

Sounds like an easy fix!
I have zero patience for your tedium.

Mick !
Standard UK spec. TZD's normally have a passenger side electric mirror and a manually operated drivers side, hence the switch

Also those fog lamps look in good nick, there worth a bob or two (if they are) ?

no that's obsessing on detail in pictures

don't get a trailer, get a low loader £95 for 250 miles

yeah, I thought they were original BX covers/trims, but I just looked closely and they're not, however he says "5 Good Tyres"

Whatever anyone does with it, it could be good value to buy with £95 to collect if you live within 100 miles of London.

You could always stick the engine from the ZX in this car and have one of the few 1.9TD's and yours would probably be unique in that it would be the only one that does 30odd to the gallon.

 sorry

Incidentally you don't need to look too close at the wheels to see that they are cheap nasty wheel trims on this, all BX's I've ever come across only have 4 wheel studs.
