Mmmm pretty, and cheap with a partially rebuilt engine! Bargain for someone.

A phase 2 valver, with aircon and a rebuilt engine; got to be worth 400 quid of anybodies money - I reckon 350 would secure it. I know you can't save 'em all but the thought of it being crushed is horrible! :(

Hh - this has to be saved - A few years ago s/h engines were going for £250 - this rebuilt one with a car on top is a great deal...

I'd much rather have a properly rebuilt D6C in a tatty body than the other way around

Maybe the photo's not good enough, but I can't see the AC slider control above the heater controls, though there appears to be some of the wiring apparent in the under bonnet shot.
Looks like a good deal for the right 'enthusiast' as this will no doubt need some fettling. With petrol prices being what they are 16vs are definately bottoming out as regards interest. Becoming a car for the masochistic er.. passionate.

I really fancy this car, but it needs a cambelt, its beaten up & will probably need 4 tyres due to the age of them, rusted up brakes & what other horrors are hidden away. Just adding those up & you're probably talking not far off what you'd pay for one thats got an mot on it. Hopefully will get saved, but probably not by me :(

Phew, that put my concerns to rest as i don't have to worry about buying a potential moneypit

Look forward to finding out if the new owner will be joining the forum & seeing progress etc...

They're all money pits Matt - the only question is; how deep? :D

BRILLIANT that it's been sold. As Matthew says hope the new owner joins the forum - it'll be nice to see it being returned to something like its former glory.

If it was me that had bought it, apart from changing the cambelt, I'd have kept it as it is

Surface rust on discs is not a problem, it's 15 miles from my house to my MOT man, and a few of those miles driving with left foot on brake pedal solves it (though would need some slabs in the boot to get the rear brakes working properly on a BX). My MOT man says that providing the integrity of the brake disc is not threatened, and providing that the meter on the rolling road does not judder and the brake efficiency is OK, then rust on a disc is not a problem. Over the 25 years I've been going to him, I've taken many cars to him with rusty discs and they're always OK by the time I get there.

Hi Guys Gordini is gone now chaps, i have quite a few volvo's yep T5r's amd 850R's.

I tend to buy to save the breed rather than see it crushed. Plus my friend had one the same when i had a gte 16v.

I'm sure i'll need advice and spares chaps

Hello Dalhousie - interesting name. Do you know Dalhousie in Himachal Pradesh in northern India? That's what I immediately thought of.
Anyway, good you bought the 16v.. a 'few T5Rs' - I don't think I've ever seen one on the road! Quite quick aren't they?
