Clutch Pushrod Broken

Since the X Rally at the weekend it's been increasingly difficult to engage 1st, 2nd and reverse without burying the clutch into the floor of the car.

I've booked the car in to my garage for them to take a look on Friday, but a quick hunt under the bonnet seems to have revealed the issue - part of the pushrod assembly (forgive my technical inaccuracies here!) seems to be half way to snapping hence the need to push the clutch further and further down.

Can anyone take a guess on whether this my be the sole cause of the issue or whether pressure from another fault is causing it to snap? Also - does anyone have one of these? I'm going to see if my garage can do a temporary weld/fix to keep me going and avoid total clutch failure!

Any pointers gratefully received....

Common problem mate, dont worry, easily replaced and not too expensive, they seize up with age.

Don't forget to lube the pivot bolt, also available if needed.

the other cause of this breaking can be the clutch is at the end of its life, which makes the pedel operation very heavy,

Good point! Jon I would get one of these aswell and replace them both. If you need a clutch cable I have one.

This. If the friction plate has worn too thin, the fingers on the cover will be applying a preload to the release bearing and that release arm. If this is the case, your release bearing will be chattering away like a pub full of pissed budgies within no time.
Once you've fitted the new arm, the most obvious sign will be a clutch with the bite point right at the top or slipping. If that happens, only a new clutch will cure it.

Prior to this week there have been no problems with the clutch or odd noises, so I'm hoping it's just a knackered lever arm

New bolt has arrived this morning and I've had a look at the thread on this already - who knew it was such a common problem? Well, clearly all of you did!
