hydraulic metal pipe replacement

Post by nige »

my 94 diesel bx, the pipe that is coiled at the front - i think one end goes to the accumlater, seems to be have been rubbing over the years and is now spraying LHM from the damaged area. Looks like it wont be long before the other side goes too. Am so hoping that Citroen can supply one of these as am realy depserate for one. Three questions - Am assuming the rubber hydraulic seal is inbeded somewhere do i need to try and remove this and replace with new? if i do how is removing it best achieved? Are these pipes the same across the BX family ie does a 1.4 fit a 1.9Diesel just that i think there might be one on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-BX-1- ... 5d25141ca2

Also can anyone point me in the right direction of getting one or both of these pipes PDQ!

acording to service citroen that part No. says without power steering,

i will check to see if i have both the coily pipes the run under the engine/gear box,

i re/use the pipe seals most of the time, and just remove them to pluck any strands of rubber off before re.fitting them,

but if you need to remove them i pick them out with a small screw driver,

just be very carefull not to pinch/knick them as you fit the pipe end through them,

if you send me the last 8 digits of your chassis/VIN No. i will get the exact part No.'s for the pipes to fit your car,

ok but it dont like your VIN No. it comes back with "VIN includes one or more space"
so if the are ovals with chevrons in them these i think are classed as space's,

thats possibly the RP No. ,

it might just be taking a dislike to BX chassis No.'s as i tried Andy's and it didn't like that either,

i will get the part No.'s from the curly pipes i have tomorow and run them by service citroen

When I replaced the safety valve to regulator pipe last year on my 19RD there was only one pipe still available from Citroen out of all the previous options. I bought it and modified it to fit.

The one in in your ebay link is 2000mm whereas the one you need - I think - is 2200mm. This pipe - 96 033 162 - is still available and is 2200mm but might need some bending to fit.

What is the other pipe you need? Pipe no. 95 596 576 is the regulator towards pump, into that junction 'block thing' ( what's that called?) is a 6.35mm pipe and is still available.

Best thing is to get a new one made to length from copper/cunifer and coil it yourself - it's easy enough to do if you use a former of the right diameter (beer can?). I've uccessfully made loads of similar pipes for 2CVs like this, including the complicated ones that run inside the rear axle tube.
1990 BX TZD Estate ('the grey one', 1991 BX TZD Estate ('the white one'), 1982 2CV6 Charleston (in bits), 1972 AZU Serie B (2CV van), 1974 HY72 Camper, 1990 Land Rover 110 diesel LWB, 1957 Mobylette AV76, 1992 Ducati 400SS, 1966 VW Beetle, 1990 Mazda MX-5, 1996 Peugeot 106D, 1974 JCB 2D MkII, 1997 BMW R1100RS, 1987 Suzuki GSX-R1100, 1978 Honda CX500A, 1965 Motobecane Cady, 1988 Honda Bros/Africa Twin, 1963 Massey Ferguson 825, and a lot of bicycles!

have been to the parts place the pipe no is 95596576 - taddao - you are correct sir! They reckon zero stock in UK, France may have some but its going to take a while to find out and order. There is a local place that knows someone that can make another one - but the guy is not avialable till next Monday - the search is on - though i feel its gonna be somthing knocked up rather than off the shelf which would be nice

thanks everyone for help and advice. I orderd the correct length and ends of the pipe from this ace firm Pleiades in Cambridge http://www.agua.nu/ds-files/tony-jackso ... eiades.pdf can thoroughly reccomend them, I coiled and shaped it with a scaffold bar and various pipes - works a treat - well happy :)
