I've completed my first head gasket change last weekend on an AX.
Its all done now except bleeding the cooling system which i'm having a right pain with.
I cant seem to get any water to come out of the bleed nipples once the system is pressurised and has been run up to the fan coming in.
When filling the system water comes out of the nipples but once its pressurised nothing at all.
Please HELP!?!?!

Did you change the water pump.....theres generally a reason why the H/G goes in the first place.
They're fairly easy to bleed. If you're really stuck, take the stat out, top the rad up and remove the bleed cap at the back, then blow on the rad top, and keep topping up.
Once you've got a bit in there, fire her up and keep it topped breifly. Then pop stat back in ( i assume you've got a new one?) and continue. When you rev it, water should spurt out at the back of the engine bay. Check the heater matrix has a hot pipe going to AND from it aswell.

The headgasket was changed because the oil passage had broken and it was peeing oil everywhere.
I've not changed anything on the cooling system because there was nothing wrong with the car before hand.
When you rev the engine water does come out of the bleed holes, does this mean all is well?

If it was anything like bleeding the bleeding BX 16v good luck!
It was a pain in the butt too but if you open the bleed screws with only a small amount of pressure or none the water stays in, then once you open the cap the water is not held back, think it works as a vacuum or something but water only came out my nips (excuse me)! when the cap was off the tank!
