Looks good....

Ad says it's petrol though, while it's clearly diesel... I'd be tempted myself if I didn't already have two Mk2s...
A nice-looking 19GTi:

Not far from me in Normandy so easy for the ferry if anyone's interested!
And one to avoid:

Want!! Doesn't mention if it has Control Technique. Tres bon etat= very good condition? €500 sounds good. What difficulties would there be in bringing it over?

Re: Low miles Mk1 estate and others on Leboncoin (France)
Assuming it's road legal for France, you get UK insurance cover on the chassis number, go over, hand over the money and drive it back!
Once here you can drive it home from the port, to and from the MOT and to and from a place where work for the MOT is being carried out, but that's it!
once here you need to get it MOT'd, bearing in mind that our test is stricter than theirs, fill out the necessary import paperwork, then send off all the necessary documentation to DVLA. You used to be able to do this at the local licencing office, but I believe that's no longer the case.
There shouldn't be any import duty, but you will have to pay a registration fee on top of whatever tax is due.
It's been a few years since I last did this, so there may have been a couple of changes I'm not aware of.

Re: Low miles Mk1 estate and others on Leboncoin (France)
Trés Bon Etat does indeed mean VGC, but the French interpretation of VGC varies widely. I once went to look at a Mehari advertised as VGC, restored, repainted. It was a total shitheap, rusted out underneath, with ripped seats, no ignition barrel and had apparently been repainted by a blind man. Using old school custard. Applied with a cauliflower...mds141 wrote:Want!! Doesn't mention if it has Control Technique. Tres bon etat= very good condition? €500 sounds good. It's in Haute Savoie, so a bit of a trek from the ports. Nice bit of country though - If it had been last week I'd have loved a trip down there as I could have watched Bradley Wiggins winning the Criterium de Dauphiné, which had a big stage up the Col de Joux Plane on saturday. Friends have a house just round the corner...

I've always found it very dangerous looking on Leboncoin, and usually start with this ^ followed by depressive surly-ness. There are some loverly BX's (and XM's) on there...mds141 wrote:Want!!

No one's interested in the BX 'woody wagon' then? With the bike on the roof for when it breaks down..
It's like a virus that 'look' - the 'sticker bomb' and the tat on the roof!
That Mk.1 Break is right by Geneva, not too far off the route of the recent Citroen Classic tour. Four hours from me but I'm BXed up to here

I can just see me borrowing a Brian James trailer and scouring the French countryside for nice BX's. Todd are you coming over for the ICCCR?

Mark asked
I would like to come but it's not looking too likely. As Mat pointed out to me, once I've made a beachhead in Dover, it's still another 400 miles to get oop North. I do keep thinking of all the Citroen and BX stuff that's likely to be for sale as enthusiasts haul their wares from all over.. not too mention the possibility of a karaoke!
Replies quickly ( three days later) : why, do you want me to pick that Mk.1 Break up for you on the way?Todd are you coming over for the ICCCR?

You could try Rotterdam or Zeebrugge to Hull... Do it as an overnight crossing and sleep most of the way.toddao wrote:once I've made a beachhead in Dover, it's still another 400 miles to get oop North.
