Joking apart theres alot more bx write up in the Citroenian these days, which is £2.50 a month and is crammed full of Citroen stuff. When you consider the monthlys like PC etc are £4.20 and maybe have one article (normally on a DS)featured it makes good value.

That is VERY true! I can remember when the monthly BX article went a bit like this; 'Here's a fuzzy black and white picture of a rusty BX in a farmyard. Today I'm going to show you how to mend it with some chicken wire, an old coat hanger and a piece of string.' Mind you, you could take your pick of any number of really nice CX GTi T2s in 'mutual aid' for 800 quid a pop - so swings and roundabouts really!

I didn't bother renewing either. When the CCC get some fresh blood in and look beyond the Traction and DS I'll think about it again
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Sorry Chris but thats complete tosh and saddens me that a moderator slags off the CCC. 5 years ago maybe but things are very different now, ive done my best in the past 3 years to alter the them and us mentality, and that bxs aren't just bought by the great unwashed after a cheap banger. There's more bx's at the ccc shows than ANY other model and get plenty of appreciation award wise nowadays, they regularly get featured in the magazine aswell as the bx column plus i can vouch that the board are very much in favour of the model. Bill Cameron the Club Secretary owns two and is happy to financially support any bx related activity as he did the Classic Challenge. Alan Kemp also a board member races a 16v in local competitions.

Wood Green,

ICCCR

Burleigh house

All CCC organised, advertised and supported, many of which you have attended yourself. Bearing in mind you need public liability insurance to host them, which is paid for in membership subscription.

As yet the bxc has had no shows of it own, the NEC will be the first.

I'm not suggesting we all pay our £30 subs, as there's always those who would rather get it for nothing but give credit where it's due.

Was anyone else extremely entertained by comparison of Challenge stories on here

(paraphrased) We slept in tents/our cars and cooked on LHM bonfires, with some side trips to scrap yards and had a jolly old time careering round really ridiculous roads

to the 'DS en Eukadi' diary in this month's Citroenian? Memorable quotes:

"Our base for the week was a hotel by the sea in Anglet, about 5 km north of Biarritz" ... "The morning drive incorporated a visit to a traditional Basque linen-making factory ..." (NB extracted for nearly comic effect: these aren't entirely fair representations of the whole article)

Being new to the CCC, I only have 5 or 6 editions of the mag. lined up, but it seems to have a fair spread of all the models, old and new, and appears to be what the membership makes it, rather than being in the complete control of any one individual or small group.

 And unmade gravel tracks clinging on cliff edges!

Regarding the CCC, I'm actually tempted to join up for the first time. If I don't like it then fair enough, but I feel it's worth a try.

It' called giving a personal opinion Tim. I'm not slagging the CC off as such, if I wanted to do that I could go into detail about the pathetic clash of the CX titans several of us were witness to a cuple of years back, or the way the editor stepped in and rewrote letters from a young lad, or, indeed, many other things, including the inability to log into the forum despite several Emails...

I was a member until earlier this year, and had been for many many years and whilst I think things are changing slowly, I dont buy that more modern Citorens are thought of as particularly interesting by those at the top. It was a good deal less than 5 years ago when Nigel ignored the Saxo but spent about 3million hours waffling about DS's, which is all well and good, but not for me. Not a "me" as a moderator and voice of this forum, but "me" a balding dude sat here in a not so comfy chair who appreciated the return of a regular BX colomn after a very long time of it being sporadic or non existant but found myself prefering the technical stuff in the xantia colomn despite not very much liking Xantia's.

I'm not suggesting that people should not join the CCC, far from it, merely expressing that after many years of paying my dues to it every year, I still, up to and including this year, found us ale drinking BXers that aren't all that arsed about polishing mops and prefer a pint and a discussion about injection duration are frowned on, and aside from your own BX's, I cant think of any shows I've been to where another BX has won anything in the last several years...
Maybe since March things have changed, but I saw little evidence of it.

And that is MY personal opinion, not that of BXC or anyone else, just Mine.
