1992 1.7 TZD Hatchback Met.Green For Sale (E-Bay)

Post by RxBX »

As title posting (K901 NTL) spotted on E-BAY low miles (65,719 miles) with some TLC should make a nice ^^bx> for some one but just remember to budget for a pair of rear radius arm bearing kits + labour as they will be needing attention @ that mileage, (if indeed they've not been replaced recently) !

Have looked after this car for many years now doing its yearly MOT work and servicing for a lady in her senior years, she has now bought something else from myself so i am the proud new owner!! Engine and Gearbox are in excellent working order, the rear sphere's are a bit on the hard side but it does go up and down on the suspension normally, the passengers side wing has a bit of a scuff and scratch on it and there are some other minor scratches around the car which is normal for a car of this age, the interior is in very good condition. The only minor problem i have come across is when you turn the ignition on sometimes nothing happens like a bad connection, hit the key again and it starts!

It went straight through its MOT in February so it does have MOT until Feb 2013 and is Taxed until the end of August. Large folder of service bills and haynes manuals etc

Payment on collection, or can deliver at extra cost to auction end.

You are bidding to buy this car not to view it!! So please no time wasters!!

If you would like to come and view the car please give me a call on 07541 426696.

No RESERVE!!!
Note its location is Leicester, maybe Tim could do a quick/reconnaissance with an appraisal ?

:D

Hopefully going to look at this tomorrow evening. Thought against the petrol Metoer in the end. It was very much do I or don't I at the end. I will post any apparent issues we find.

Hi all,

To anyone who is interested. Just got back form looking at the TZD that is on ebay. Here is a list of things that need doing:

4 new tyres
4 spheres (thay are totally flat on all four corners, no give at all)

Radius arm bearings most likely, as there was a clonk from the rear suspension when the height was raised.

Welding on the off side front wheel arch in the usual place, also at the rear end of both of the sills.

The car sat at normal ride height quite happiy but when moving the height lever the back went up the front stayed where it was(probably just a stuck height corrector).

The clutch is either very badly adjusted or it is worn out(pedal sits very high and the bite is nearly at the top of the pedal travel).

The brakes didn't feel as good as mine although that could just be lack of use.

Needs a new rear bumper(looks as if it has been shunted at the back at slow speed).

The good bits:

The engine seemed very quiet and pulled very well indeed. There were three of us in the car and is pulled very strongly from 2000revs (a lot better than mine I might add).
Mine is quite gutless up to 2500-3000 revs.

The interior is in very nice condition.

It will make a nice car for somebody who is willing to spend a few hundred pounds on it. I hope this is a help to a prospective buyer.

Hi Graham,
Its good that you've posted your honest appraisal of the TZD on the forum !
So I have a question for you (Just to confirm) , I take it your passing out of the bidding war on this one ?

Hi,
No I won't be bidding on it. If I didn't already have one and I wanted one then maybe. I am looking at Xantias and ZX's mainly. It was the mileage that attracted me to that one.

Winning bid:- £884.00

Erm, IMHO I thought maybe £650 tops after Graham's /\ appraisal !

So there you you go, find another low mileage TZD (Or TZD Hurricane) off some old dear, before anyone else gets their hands on it to re-sell on E-Bay !

BTW is the new owner a forum member ?

:)

That's just bloody bizarre - the identical one I predicted at £900 seemed to be in much better nick, although higher mileage

That is odd. I looked at the "other one", and it certainly seemed like a viable proposition in comparison to Graham's comments above. It may be that a County Durham location is too far for a lot of people darn sarth to venture.

Wow, I thought it was going to stay around the £450 mark. I hope who ever bought it is pleased with it!
