Wobbly gear lever.

Post by ghaddon1701 »

Hello everybody,
Ever since my BX has had its new lease of life in the form of more power :D, under hard acceleration or pulling up a hill the gear lever wobbles quite a lot from side to side. I seem to notice it more when pulling in 4th or 5th pulling up a hill. The more you push the accelerator the worse it gets. I don't have any trouble selecting gears or jumping out of gear. It just seems odd that the gear lever is doing a dance! Can anybody advise? Thanks.

rubber bushings are probably worn, think there at the gear end. i doubt its worth the hassle to resolve

Tried the radio station change. Didn't work #-o :D . I believe it may be the offside driveshaft as the whole front of the car seems to wobble from 40mph up to 50mph and then clears. I also have a split boot. I am still half hoping maybe the front wheels need balancing but it probably will be the driveshaft. In my experience wheels out of balance shake the car at higher speeds, the symptom I have is more of a side to side wobble. I believe there is a bearing that the driveshaft runs in half way along, presumably it is advisable to change that aswell? Thanks.
