Front Suspension Height

Post by Tim Leech »

The DTR rides very well, and sits nice and level, however when you put it in "HIGH" the rear end raises up to its maximum height but the the front only lifts by an inch or so to the intermediate setting, ive tried some Citroaerobics with no joy, the LHM and tank filters were changed recently as was the spheres (inc accumulator).

Any thoughts, its not a real issue as I dont drive it round in height much!

sticking linkage by the sund of it, is the lever hard to move?
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

I'd go with sticky front height corrector. You got any ramps Tim. Probably wants a good degrease and spray with WD40. Have a look where it connects to the anti roll bar.

I'm not familiar with the linkage on the BX, but could there be either play in there or something out of adjustment - I've had a similar issue on the back of the G where moving the lever in the car didn't move the arm on the rear corrector far enough. I reduced the clearance on the linkage and the problem went away.

the H/C's dont give much if any trouble it will be the linkage,

please dont use that W stuff as its NOT a lubricant but a moisture displacent,
and it doesn't do what is says on the can,

use duck oil or even engine oil then grease

As an interim solution pressing up and down on one of the wings should loosen things up and make it want to rise fully

You must be joking! they may dent  Maybe a good few runs on some bumpy roads will do the trick? as mentioned the ride is spot on.

open the bonnet/hood and lean on and off the slam panel then hun,

or just get some large person to sit on and off the bonnet

easy fix is to drible some engine oil down onto the H/C linkage from behind the engine,

the only down side to this is the oil will attract dirt

I have found driving one corner up onto a kerb (slowly mind, not just bashing into it) can help free things up a bit. Not a fool proof way, but i agree completely about bouncing on the wings, you end up with a lovely ripple effect on the wing that way.

Nah, the wings are metal and very solid, that's what I've done in the past, but failing that just a few feet of driving should cause enough movement to make the car rise
