BX TZD Turbo with a difference (Sheffield)

Had a call last night from a Chap in the CCC, he has a White TZD Turbo he needs to sell on, I know the car as I viewed it about 4 years ago as part of a bereavement sale (which went a bit wrong but thats past history).

It started life as a 19TZS Auto, and was in fabulous condition inside and out when I saw it, having being recently repainted and the interior was spotless, the current owner had a TZD Turbo with a rotten shell and good engine so swapped one from the other as it would have been too thirsty for him with the petrol lump.

However now the diesel engine is no good as the headgasket has gone (twice) and the engine was cooked ans is U/S.

So if you want a pristine example (with Zenith grey cloth), then get in touch

Car is in sheffield, it has MOT until April next year, he had agreed a price with another chap of £500 who has now backed out of the deal, I have explained that I think the chance of getting that figure with a busted engine is going to be impossible, he doesnt want to scrap it so will take sensible offers.

It would be a shame to see it broken as the body is excellent.

All he is going to get for it Tim is the scrap value as its going to cost quite a lot of time and money to put it right. My TZD cost a lot but was very well done by you know who!!
Probably worth all of 100 quid as it is now which is what i paid for mine.
Might get more if he broke it for parts but that will take time of course.

Shame it's there, as if it was closer, Kermit might be up for re-engining the car; he has at least two XUD turbo engines knocking about... I will mention it to him though.

Theres also the addes issue of insurance to take care off, surely he would have been better off buying a TZD in the first place, when I went to view the cars, the figures banded about for the cars were £1500, which was ludicrous for a petrol auto at the time.

Its probably worth £200-250 if someones got the time?

There's also the question of why the respray was done, and what state it's in now - a respray can cover a multitude of sins. But if still in good nick now would suggest that it's a good job. Also how well the conversion was done, but with a donor car there's the potential to get it exactly the same as a factory model.

Sadly probably only good for the scrap yard unless he is willing to give it away to a willing enthusiast.

Not even that Tim as its a busted motor, a non runner therefore scrap. Which to my mind is a terrible shame. I wouldnt have offered anything like that for mine.

The respray at the time looked great, it has done over 100000 miles on the petrol engine and was a little battle scarred as as he liked it so much he has it repainted.

If I had the time it would make a good project but is beyond my skills, someone surely must have a TD engine going spare?

I have a spare td engine that i bought from kevan (defender 110) which is now surplus to requirements. It has done 144,000 miles.

If you don't use a computer, how the hell are you going to sell a car these days, doh!! It's not even worth scrap value with the amount of messing about you're going to have to do.....I'll try Shaun to see if he's interested, at least its in my neck of the woods so i could have a viewing & take some pictures if anyone is interested. It depends whereabouts in Sheffield it is as to whether i can be bothered tbh or if someone is really interested i'l consider making the effor, but please pm me if you are pretty serious about buying this car. I can also have a chat with the seller & let him know what its worth realistically bearing in mind transporter costs & how far the buyer is coming from etc....
