RED BX ESTATE ON YOU KNOW WHERE BAY

Post by bookman »

To save anyone else from making the same mistake, this car has many faults not listed/photographed on ebygum. The windscreen has a crack and a chip, there is no glove box lid,the passenger doorlock is hanging out of the door, the tailgate lock and latch have come away from the tailgate which is broken, the boot interior plastic panels are broken, the car and the boot are filthy and full of rubbish, the intercooler seal is half off and the engine compartment is filthy. The little tube is missing from the LHM reservoir cap.I didn't stay any longer but it is many moons since I have seen such a badly neglected and ignored car.It would probably have needed a respray too,and the front bumper is hanging down. When a car is that badly neglected on the surface, you have to wonder what on earth its like internally mechanically.

My friend inspected the car a week ago and reported it was rubbish! Seems the seller was rather economical with the truth!
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

You might be lucky & although its a shed with regard to its condition, it might be a very reliable & trouble free car. Those issues you mention are easily & cheaply sorted, so get cleaning :)

Post up some piccies of the areas that you need some parts for & i'm sure club members can find you those bits & bobs that you need.

Cosmetic things can be sorted I agree, but when the car is full of rubbish because the moron can't be bothered to remove it before selling, when the engine bay is full of oily fluidy mud, when the intercooler shroud is half off,its clearly been neglected by someone who is either lazy or unmechanical ( to be polite ).What else might have been neglected in such a case ? Without spending a long time investigating its difficult to tell.Certainly a cracked windscreen ( not just chipped ) would need replacing before any long drives. Its also indicative of the seller ( and possibly the car) when the passenger side is not photographed because the door lock is hanging out.You have to ask why someone would try to sell a car in such a condition if these things could be easily rectified.
