TZD Estate wanted

Post by lovemybx »

I joined the club only recently and think I may have tempted fate in that my beloved 1993 TZD estate has been seriously damaged by a white van man reversing at some speed out of his drive, across the pavement and into the road where I was waiting having given way to a car coming the other way.
In view of this and the other work that needs doing I am beginning to think that it may not be worth carrying on as it is.
Therefore I was wondering if anyone has or will have in the near future a TZD Estate in very good condition to sell.
I have had BXs since 1986.My first was a 19TRS,then a 4x4Estate(written off by 9.5 tonnes of bus)and then my TZD Estate which I bought in 1996 and have loved for the last 17 years.I just don't think that I could drive anything else!I do hope that someone can help.

How bad is the damage? Given how rare and desirable the TZD estates are, you might well be best off fixing what you've got. Especially as it wasn't your fault.

As Ian says, if the car is in good order prior to accident it may be worth mending that instead of buying a possible nail, like the one on eBay at the moment!

..that_

After owning it that long, you should know that car inside out! Unless you're either lucky or prepared to pay top money, you could end up buying more trouble than you have now

Many thanks for your replies and encouragement.I have seen the one on ebay and a phrase containing "bargepole" sprang to mind.
I think the work involved is beyond me.So, can you recommend a good, reliable BX friendly garage in Devon,Somerset or Cornwall.I live in North Devon.

quite often damage looks far worse than it actually is,

as Tim says lets see some picy's so we can guide/encourage you as to how to go about fixing her up,

im in St Leonards on sea East Sussex and have a car repair shop ( usually mechanical )

but spent most of my previous garage life in body repair,

im just in discussions with a third parties insurance company claiming for damage caused by an unmaned motor bike to my TZD estate,
as in this thread

Theres been a couple of accident damaged BX's returned to the road recently, one of which needed a complete front end, thankfully the BX is quite simple and most thinks are mendable as long as the shell itself isnt twisted.
